Thumbs down Cecil County for ALS

Now here is a serious question. Why is Lancaster County Dispatching a Cecil County Medic unit from Station 8 into Lancaster County? Are they staffed 24/7 and can they be out the door in 3 minutes or less?

This is true but Yum Yum is a Career Paramedic for the County that is staffed 24/7 and 365 days per year (366 days per leap year). Actually, I think, he is a Lt. Paramedic for the Cecil County. The units being alerted are not staffed 24/7. Heck they are lucky if they can get out on a call in their own county.

i think you should start up the welky ambulance service and run a paramedic unit from the tanglewood area.......i know of a partner that you could have!.....lol

And your right 90% they dont make the response and are covered with 94 or 7-7-8.....or cancelled due to eta and hospital destination

Nice! Thanks!! But that is my point...they hardly ever if ever make the response. Why has LCWC not done anything with it??

Actually half the time a SVEMS medic clears the city and takes it and meets them coming south. Easy solution, quit calling for them. Even better solution, a career county EMS program. Hear that sound? Thats the ptssss of a can opening. Here come the worms.

I was not even going there but you did!!

I think the big wigs at LCWC need to see what the heck is going on and stop having them dispatched!

By the way, that YumYum character...he's a jackass. His partner at work is a good looking guy.

Andy I agree and continue to agree. I have said something to the hire ups at SVEMS before to start a dual dispatch. Then if Cecil is not getting out there is a unit already starting that way. Rather than waiting 12 minutes into the call to say ummm D@mn we dont have a medic going to an ALS call. I dont see why nothing has been changed. Maybe somebody from 5-13 EMS can say something to LCWC and have something changed to try and help the situation.
