Is there any laws in PA concerning chiefs or fire police officers responding to Emergency Incidents in POVs, using lights & sirens...

I will give several examples....

Example # 1...
Can a chief or fire police officer use "lights & sirens" while responding to an incident in their first due?? when they are not in their own jurisdiction, and I don't mean just a few miles out...... I am talking about 8 to 10 miles out..

Example # 2...
Chief or Fire Police officer is a member of several fire departments and is a chief or fire police officer with the one dept & a firefighter with the other departments.
Can he/she use "lights & sirens" while responding to an incident in the first due area of the dept that he/she only has the rank of firefighter with?
The dept that he/she is a chief or fire police officer with... IS NOT ON THE CALL..

If there is any PA laws concerning these examples, can you please post the link.

Thanks,

http://www.redcross.org/holidaymail

In this season of hope and giving the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes, Inc. have joined forces to invite Americans to “send a touch of home” to United States service members and veterans across the country and abroad. In its third year, the Holiday Mail for Heroes program is an opportunity to share joy and thanks with our service members throughout the holiday season by way of a greeting card.

Cards from across the nation must be sent to this address:

Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Follow these guidelines while preparing your holiday greetings!

Do...

Sign all cards
Entitle cards “Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran”
Limit cards to 15 per person or 50 for school class or business group
Bundle groups of cards in single, large envelopes

Don’t...

Send letters
Include personal information such as home or email addresses
Use glitter – excessive amounts can aggravate health issues of wounded recipients
Include inserts of any kind as they must be removed in the screening process

Vote to allow beer sales in convenience stores

ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Altoona-based Sheetz convenience store chain has started a petition drive to convince Pennsylvania lawmakers that customers want to buy beer in its stores.

Thwarted in the courts, company chairman Steve Sheetz wants a law allowing convenience stores to sell beer -- something he has envisioned since the chain was founded more than 40 years ago.

If you'd like to sign the online petition you can do so here -- Freemybeer.com.

Sheetz had a license to sell beer in one Altoona store, but the state Supreme Court nixed that in June.

Sheetz was selling the beer in a fast-food area of the store to comply with a law allowing eateries to sell beer, but ran afoul of the law by not letting customers also drink in that section of the store.

Sheetz has more than 350 stores in six states, including more than 200 in Pennsylvania.

What are your thoughts on this?-

It has always been assumed that senior members have priority over juniors when boarding apparatus. But read on- There is a fire call at your station and your engine 1 has one seat left open. Two people are competing for this seat. A 16-year old junior member, who has completed Mods 1 and 2, attends in-house training regularly, and runs about 70 calls in a year, and a 20 year old senior member, who has no certified training, does not regularly attend in-house training, and runs about 40 to 45 calls a year. Common assumption pertains that the apparatus would pull out with the senior member in the remaining seat. But is this right? Why shouldn't the junior get the seat ? After all, he has more training, right? Now, it has to be realized that juniors can't be of much help in the attack of the fire, but of what help can an untrained senior member be? Is there any difference between an untrained senior member and a junior member?
